about us
one man and his dog and a van full of plants. that's how it all started.
and it literally grew from there.
like so many small businesses, we started this journey during lockdown 2020 when the world was upside down and no one knew what was going on, least of all us.
we packed as many plants into a transit van as we could and heading out to whatever market or pop-up would have us. luckily we found some amazing places to set up and pitched alongside some equally amazing small businesses. we had found our place.
what we do
but there's only so much you can fit in a van, and to be quite honest we didn't have the space at home for it all...so we went looking for our very first shop.
the little plant guys general store, Beeston opened in 2021 and was a super little home for all plants, plant related wares and craft bits we had gathered. best of all it was dry and warm and didn't involve quite so many early mornings and wet afternoons out on the road.
now with a roof over our heads, we could focus solely on plant care, talking about plants, repotting plants and pretty much anything else plant related. and that's when we noticed something about the world and the way people interacted that had changed significantly...folks wanted to stop and chat, for longer, about anything and everything.
our values
now we weren't just a plant retailer, but a place where people could slow down, talk and even have a cuppa surrounded by plants and really get into what they wanted.
and this became our core belief, that no matter what is going on outside, we will always be a relaxed and safe environment for folk to talk and browse and take some time out.
our plant collection grew, we added more & more craft and homewares to the collection, from as many other small businesses as we could find and help support and now we think we have a pretty good balance of plant and plant related stuff.
who we are
the little plant guys may have started with Phill and Larry, Rita the van and a handful of plants, but everyone that has worked with us, helped us build and supported us along the way has made the business what it is and we hope we can continue to support the local community, in whatever form we can for a long time to come
